I want to thank everyone who participated in the 2011 Hospice Dash 5K and Half-Marathon races. I've received hundreds of compliments from participants, guests, sponsors, and volunteers along with some great suggestions on how to make the event even better in 2012! Certificates will be mailed to age group winners in both races in the near future. I received an official copy of the course certification today in the mail and have posted it (along with the results) on the left side of this page. Our committee worked very hard to make this race the premier event of the fall running season. We know there are things we will need to improve for next year (ex: more restrooms at the starting line and less congestion at the finish), but overall we're very proud of our event. Congratulations to our 5K champions Kyrah Nachreiner (22:33) and Alex Suida (17:20) along with our half marathon winners Laina Bay-Cheng (1:25:45) and Eric Ingalsbe (1:14:29) on your outstanding times. We look forward to seeing all of you back in Youngstown for the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. Who knows what we'll have in store for you next year!

Athletes wind down with friends following the race

All pre-registered runners were given the opportunity to run "In memory of..." someone special. Upon completion of the race, they were presented with a custom-made race medallian featuring the Hospice Dash Logo on the front side and a place for the name of their loved one on the back.

Four Mile State Park provides a beautiful backdrop for our 5K Run!

Be on the lookout for our new promotional trailer! We want to thank our friends at Mantelli Trailer Sales in Lockport along with the graphic design team at Modern Corporation for supporting Niagara Hospice!

Race News!

Entertainment

We would like to thank the numerous bands who performed throughout our half-marathon route including Strictly Hip who performed at our post-race party. Soul Committee provided the musical entertainment at Artpark (Half Marathon Starting Line) from 7:30 to 9:00am. Runners were greeted by the famous MacKenzie Highlander Bagpipers as they exited Artpark followed by Clyde at the Lewiston Red Brick Building. Brother Taharka and his traditional African drummers were at one of the many Underground Railroad crossing points on River Road while Zak Ward rocked Stella Niagara. Not far down the road the Brass Monkeez were cranking out some awesome tunes. In the Village of Youngstown we enjoyed traditional Irish music performed by the Celtic Circle Ceilidh Band. The final live band along our 13.1 mile run was The Junk Yard Dogs performing their classic blues at Bandana's Bar & Grille near the twelve mile marker. DJ The Dee Jay motivated our runners down the homestretch and across the finish line!

Nike Outlet

The Nike Store located at the Fashion Outlet in Niagara Falls will serve as our official packet pickup location. Nike will be offering special discount coupons to all Hospice Dash participants.

Shuttle Service

Niagara Falls Coach Lines provided free shuttle service back to the starting line at Artpark following the race!

H20 Hydration

We would like to thank the Chrysler family, Randy's Smoke Shop, and Joey's Sneeks for supplying our athletes with Frontenac Crystal Spring Water from start to finish.

Old Fort Niagara

We made special arrangements with Historic Old Fort Niagara allowing our athletes to pass right in front of the famous French Castle! We had professional photographers on location taking pictures of all of our athletes with the castle (shown abaove) in the background. Pictures will be available for purchase online following the race.

Certo Brothers Distributing

For the third year in a row, Certo Brothers Distributing supplied premium adult beverages for our guests to enjoy!

Modern Environmental

Special thanks go out to our friends at Modern Environmental for proudly supporting Niagara Hospice over the years!

Modern Sign Company

Modern Signs and Graphics donated all of the mile-marker signage for both the 5K and half marathon races.

Colton Water Station

Colton RV was the official sponsor of the 5K water station located inside Four Mile Park.

Youngstown Lion's Club

The Youngstown Lion's Club served up delicious Sahlen's hot dogs immediately following the race! Thank you for all you do to support Niagara Hospice!

Bob Weaver Motorsports

Bob Weaver Motorsports provided us with two Polaris Razor ATV's to serve as our official pace vehicles!

Tim Hortons

Mr. Bob Burns, owner of the Niagara Falls Tim Hortons, donated fresh coffee and Timbits for both pre-race gatherings.

Tom Tower Farm

Fresh Niagara County apples were provided to all athletes immediately following the race compliments of our good friend Tom Tower of Youngstown.

Manhattan Bagel

What better way to energize after the big race than with a delicious, fresh baked bagel from Manhattan Bagel. Thank you to fellow runner Carol Lucas for her generous donation!

Fire & Police

Our event could not take place without the help and support of local fire and police agencies. aaaaawe hope everyone took the time to thank the many police officers, fire department and fire police volunteers, along with the emergency medical personal stationed throughout the course on race day.
